How to Start Backpacking and Hiking - The 10 Essentials - First Aid Kit

A must on the trail and part of the 10 Essentials of Backpacking and Hiking is a First Aid Kit.  The key is to keep it lightweight and have it able to address the main injuries and illnesses that a backpacker may encounter.  After checking data from SAR teams and surveys of the long distance thru-hikers of the PCT, Pacific Crest Trail, and the AT, the Appalachian Trail, certain injuries and illnesses stood out.  First being blisters, then diarrhea, skin maladies, muscle aches and cuts and abrasions.

The best thing anyone can do it get the knowledge to be able to address these. Please visit https://info.nols.edu/info-request?gclid=Cj0KEQjw76jGBRDm1K-X_LnrmuEBEiQA8RXYZ7WbR3uXKE5rGj9t4sYlRwH-Kon1OGBjhuxwcYEPWaEaAsbu8P8HAQ for the NOLS courses or a local first aid instruction.

Here is a link to Andrew Skurka, where I have learned a lot about building a first aid kit.  There is some downloadable lists that are awesome.
